Eliminating Gastroesophageal Reflux
Gastroesophageal Reflux is generally caused by ulcers, which are really nothing more than sores that erode the mucous membrane lining the digestive tract and which penetrate the underlying muscle.
They are known medically as 'peptic' ulcers. This is because they form in areas exposed to stomach acids and pepsin (digestive enzymes).
From Wikipedia: Pepsin is an enzyme whose zymogen is released by the chief cells in the stomach and that degrades food proteins into peptides.
Erosions in the duodenum, the upper part of the small intestine, are called duodenal ulcers. Gastric ulcers, which are less common, develop in the stomach lining.
Most ulcers have been found to be linked to a common bacterium, called helicobacter pylori, which infects the intestinal tract.
The other major cause of ulcers is the use of drugs like aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, (NSAIDs) which erode the mucous membranes. Because it also inhibits blood clotting and promotes bleeding, aspirins’ effects are particularly serious. If the ulcer is caused by NSAID, discontinue using the drug.
The quickest way to overcome this problem is to fast on nothing but water for 7 to 14 days, or vegetable & fruit juices for 14 to 21 days.
During this time, MMS/CDS Protocol 1000 will assist in eliminating the helicobacter pylori bacterium.
A fast on water, or even on juice, for that length of time may sound daunting but is very healing. Many ancient cultures would fast for much longer periods for cleansing and repair of the body. Expect to feel lousy for about the first 3 days, after which the energy levels will increase and you'll start to feel the benefits.
One of the best choices for a juice fast would be CABALA juice from Don Tolman: CABALA stands for Carrots, Apples, Beetroot, Apples, Lemon, Apples - the reason apples are mentioned 3 times is for red, green and yellow apples. To make CABALA, juice 2 kg of carrots, 2 red apples, 1 beetroot, 2 green apples, 1 lemon, and 2 yellow apples. Sip on 1 litre per day.
Another choice for a juice fast to overcome peptic ulcers is fresh cabbage juice, or if that's not an option you could use celery juice.
If you can't handle not having solids, just apples & water for 14 -21 days will also heal the problem completely and remove the toxic residues of Nexium or other medications.
So in a nutshell, depending on your willpower and determination to overcome the reflux issue, the options in order of speed and effectiveness are:
1) 7 to 14 days on nothing but water
2) 14 to 21 days on CABALA juice or fresh cabbage or celery juice
3) 14-21 days on nothing but apples and water
After completing the water (or vegetable / fruit juice) fast, or the apple mono diet, have fermented foods with probiotics to re-establish the 'good' bacteria in the gut. Good choices include sauerkraut, yoghurt, milk, buttermilk, cheeses (white, aged & without animal rennets), and apple cider vinegar with the mother. Always opt for organic & naturally fermented if at all possible. Even naturally brewed beer without chemicals and preservatives, and naturally fermented wine (without sulphites) are healthy options.
Now when eating, get into the habit of completely salivating the first bite of every meal before swallowing it, ie make it completely liquid with saliva. Chewing each subsequent mouthful thoroughly before swallowing will also assist to break down the food at the first point of digestion which begins with the teeth mashing the food and mixing in the saliva (with the help of the tongue), thereby reducing the need for the stomach to work so hard and over-producing acids to digest the food when it reaches it.
More Tips
Real Licorice (the Glycyrrhiza Glabra plant - not licorice confectionery) absorbs stomach acid, promotes pH balance, and coats and soothes the stomach to relieve spasms. Licorice has proven to be an effective healing agent in gastric, duodenal and peptic ulcers resulting in drastic healing properties.
To ease the discomfort of a reflux episode, have some good organic yoghurt and/or kefir and/or white cheese with no animal rennet.
Snack during the day and do not have large meals.
Avoid artificial sweeteners and soft drinks/soda pops.
Fruit acids like lemons get the body to create alkalinity – eliminate meat because it is alkaline and causes an over-production of acids to break it down, and these acids cause reflux and ulceration or eating of holes in the stomach.
Eat a banana to soothe the discomfort. Also add honey and eggs to the daily intake.
Do not eat within 3 hours of going to bed.
Raise the head of your bed a few inches.
